I use drip system rotary micro-sprinklers to water tomatoes. The sprinklers are buried so the heads are 1 1/2 inches above the ground to prevent the leaves from getting wet. I also bury small cat food cans so the tops are level with the soil. The cans make for handy watering gauges.
