Rotary sprinklers to water and cat food cans to gauge rainfall

I use drip system rotary micro-sprinklers. I bury the sprinklers so the heads are 1 1/2 inches above ground. This prevents the leaves from getting wet. Then I bury small cat food cans so the tops are level with the soil. The cans make for handy watering gauges.
