I know, that's a bold statement. I am no master gardener, though I have grown several types every year for over 30 years. I usually pick several varieties every year to go along with my heirlooms that are a staple in my gardens.
I saw Cherokee Purple online last spring and decided to try it to fill in a few more spots in my garden. I purchased one plant, let it grow a few weeks, then transplanted the suckers as I removed them. These plants grew fast and produced constantly trough July. The fruit was 12-20 ounces.
These were good. In fact, they were very good. I did not can any of these due to eating them daily over several months, by I canned all the others...Beefsteak,Rutgers and Black Crim.
Cherokee purple is my new staple tomato.
